BioScout

English version :
BioScout offers a solution by providing real-time updates on disease prevalence, allowing farmers to gauge disease risk and strategically time their sprays in alignment with growth stages and infection risk, which factors in localized weather conditions. Studies reveal that aligning sprays with spore loads optimally protects yields and crop quality. For broadacre crops like canola, where spore load-based timing is key, or cereal crops with sprays focused on specific growth stages, BioScout can assist in fine-tuning spray timing to maximize protection and minimize fungicide resistance. For crops like wine grapes, where sprays are numerous, BioScout can assist by determining when sprays become necessary and whether you will likely need a broad-spectrum chemical or can opt for a more targeted active ingredient.
Our disease risk assessment software combines weather conditions and BioScout’s patented units have been designed for automated airborne disease detection in agriculture, our primary business area. We place these units on farms, which are often in remote areas; therefore, we designed them to function autonomously and in areas of low connectivity. In addition, they require no servicing by the customer and are fully meant to be set-and-forget. You place them in the ground and watch the data come in every day.
BioScout units collect image data of airborne particulates, and within that, we train machine-learning (ML) algorithms to identify spores of plant disease-causing fungi. They also function as weather stations. We present disease risk and weather conditions in near real-time and display this data to growers on our online borne spore data to give growers the information they need to manage crop disease effectively
As farming trends shift towards greener solutions like biological and organic pesticides, BioScout offers the assurance you need to change. These crop protection products are usually much lower in environmental impact and toxicity than traditional pesticides. Unfortunately, biologicals and organics have a large trust deficit regarding their effectiveness. With current disease management tools, it is precarious to make the switch. BioScout changes the game by delivering rapid disease insights, allowing you to gauge the effectiveness of your natural crop protection methods and quickly step into more intensive chemistry if necessary.
BioScout is an Australian AgTech Scaleup that is on a mission to enable the early detection and effective management of airborne diseases on farms across the world. BioScout automates crop disease detection and tracking through sophisticated and patent-protected biological sensor technology. Our sensors provide farmers and the nation with real-time, field-based airborne disease data. This data enables them to map, prevent and manage disease outbreaks on farms, massively improving crop yields and quality while reducing their chemical usage and spending. Our team of passionate and experienced scientists, agronomists, viticulturists, farmers and engineers want to revolutionize airborne disease management and prevent crop loss. Our world-first technology positively impacts food systems, the environment and farmers’ bottom lines. We are recognized as one of the top 100 innovative companies in Australia and 1st in Agri-food Technology and our product has recently been awarded the Australian Good Design Award of the Year.
